Destined for greatness from the start, young Maltese popstar Gaia Cauchi has travelled the world for her passion, performed in front of thousands of people (including Robbie Williams, Simon Cowell and Louis Tomlinson), and even gave Malta their first victory at a Eurovision song contest.

At just 16 years old, Gaia has over 14 years of experience in the music industry and she’s bringing all her talent and gifts to the Lovin Music Awards on October 19th.

Gaia’s musical journey started when she was merely two and a half years old, but by the time she had celebrated her ninth birthday, she was already performing overseas on the popular Italian TV show ‘Ti Lascio Una Canzone’ and alongside stars such as Alex Britti, Alessandra Amoroso and Little Tony.

Her powerhouse of a voice was heard worldwide and it was at this point that Gaia became one of Malta’s most successful voices, representing the country at international competitions including Sanremo Junion in 2012, where she finished in first place with her rendition of the Dreamgirls’ song ‘One Night Only’.

Gaia was taking Europe by storm and the charismatic and talented voice of the young singer landed her a spot on the 2013 edition of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in Ukraine, where she performed her original track ‘The Start’.

How did she do? Well if you don’t know already, then we’ll let this Instagram post do the explaining…

Not only did she win the Junior Eurovision Contest, but she also stole the nation’s heart and was awarded the order Xirka Ġieħ ir-Repubblika, the country’s highest honour, by Prime Minister Joseph Muscat.

Gaia was claiming victory after victory on the international stage, but after the honeymoon period was over, it came time for her to hone in on her musical talents and fulfill a life-long dream of hers… to perform on X Factor UK.

With years of experience under her belt and a more mature attitude towards life, Gaia auditioned for the 15th series of X Factor in 2018 and breezed past the first few rounds, wowing judges Simon Cowell and Robbie Williams and even being labeled as having ‘the X Factor’ by the Take That singer.

Her journey in X Factor took her all the way to LA with her girl group ‘Sweet Sense’.

Unfortunately, for the first time ever, Gaia fell short of winning the competition and Robbie Williams sent Sweet Sense, including Gaia, home from the Judges’ Houses round.

Despite an already-decorated career, things are just starting to heat up for Gaia Cauchi…

As she matures to an age where she calls her own shots, she’s started with a new image and sound that has just been debuted this week with her single ‘Why Should I?’ and the promise of a music video to accompany it very soon..

And it’s all happening just in time for the  Lovin Music Awards this October 19th; where she’s also nominated for two awards – Best International Success and Best Upcoming Female Artist.
