Malta Is Heartbroken As Christabelle Fails To Qualify To Eurovision Final

A strong performance by Malta’s Eurovision hopeful Christabelle was not enough to secure her a place in Saturday’s final.

Eurovision pollsters had not predicted her song Taboo would be one of the 10 qualifiers from the 18 songs that participated in tonight’s semi-final. Christabelle sang in 12th place.

Here are the countries that qualified:

  • Norway
  • Ukraine
  • The Netherlands
  • Sweden
  • Slovenia
  • Serbia
  • Moldova
  • Denmark
  • Australia
  • Hungary

Christabelle’s performance, which included a holographic heart and lots of fire on stage, changed her odds and she was suddenly tipped between 10th and 11th place.

But after the public vote closed, Malta failed to be selected. This is the second year in a row that Malta did not qualify to the Eurovision final.

Maltese singer Jessika Muscat, representing San Marino, also failed to make it to the final.

Well done for a great performance!
