This year’s SummerDaze Main Event saw the fifth edition of the festival with over 35,000 people flocking to Ta’ Qali for knockout performances by headliners Sam Smith and Becky Hill along with local artist Shaun Farrugia and BBC Radio 1’s Charlie Hedges.

This year, the week-long festival drew a crowd of 60,000 attendees across all events, making it the biggest festival of the year.

The Grammy Award-winning Sam Smith gave a spectacular performance and world-renowned Becky Hill blew audiences away with her vocals. Local superstar Shaun Farrugia also wowed the audience with his performance and Charlie Hedges ended the night on a high with a set that got the crowd dancing the night away.

Having become a calendar staple for locals and international audiences alike, this annual event attracted 65% of its attendees from overseas with a staggering number of travellers coming from the United Kingdom, Italy, France, Germany, Poland, Spain, Turkey, Ireland and the United States amongst others.

The pull of such an international audience is a testament to the quality and appeal of the headliners that SummerDaze continues to bring to the Maltese Islands, as well as partnerships with global brands such as the BBC, Creamfields and their newest addition of partnerships with the renowned Universal Music Group. These relationships put Malta on the map and make it the more obvious destination for music lovers worldwide.

SummerDaze is part of an exciting week-long lineup. The festivities continue with VidaLoca at UNO Malta on Friday 16th August,  followed by the highly anticipated event hosted by BBC Radio 1 Dance on Saturday 17th August. This will be an event which will broadcasted live to millions of people in the UK with a huge lineup featuring Lost Frequencies, Jax Jones, Sonny Fodera, Zerb, Solardo, Camden Cox, and many more.

The SummerDaze week concludes with an event by BBC Radio 1 Dance X event showcasing an electrifying performance by Kungs at Café Del Mar on the 18th of August, joined by the dynamic Danny Howard.
