From The New Victorians’ brand new banger to Where It’s ATT’s new album, there’s something for everybody in Lovin Malta’s latest summer music round-up.

Summer is upon us and our local artists are working hard to make it a memorable one. Have a look at these five new tracks and tag a friend who needs a playlist revamp!

1. Gilbert Gauci – ‘My Emergency’

Singer-songwriter Gilbert Gauci is taking us on a blissful euphoria trip with his new single ‘My Emergency’, built around uplifting melodies that’ll be ringing in your head.

In ‘My Emergency’, Gilbert crafts a sound that embodies the warmth of our beloved summer nights. With chill vibes and road trips in good company, you know the feels.

As an aside, the song was written together with American songwriter Eliot DeLay during the 2021 lockdown period… using Zoom.

2. The New Victorians – ‘Running In Circles’

Hot off their acclaimed pre-release album experience in collaboration with Late Interactive, The New Victorians have just dropped their latest single. The first from their upcoming album.

Their brand new song (and video) explores what it means to grow up with someone through the different seasons of life.

“Both of us met our husbands as teenagers whilst we were figuring out how to ‘adult’ and navigate life’. This song is a mini-tribute to growing up with someone through highs and lows, and finding a home in that person.”

The track is the first of their second full-length studio album – Thick Skin, set to drop come July.

3. The Travellers – ‘Is-Sbuħija ta’ Dan iż-Żmien’

The Travellers will be featuring their upcoming single “Is-Sbuħija ta’ Dan iż-Żmien” with its music video, both of which will be released on 4th July 2022. So check out their socials for an update in the coming days.

It seems that as decades go by, life is becoming increasingly harder and more complex. Newer generations are having to deal with tougher times by the day.

But only by controlling our fears, and emotions and managing our expectations can one truly be happy and healthy.

In their song, the Travellers challenge the increasing difficulty of life and ask: “what will the future hold?”

Keep an eye out for their upcoming track.

4. Where It’s ATT – ‘Sounds Of The Street II’

Where It’s ATT’s second album, Sounds Of The Street II, is here! Two years ago to this day the DJ-duo released their first album, independently.

Little did we know that it would generate millions and millions of streams.

Now we have the sequel to that album, and every song is a reflection of the duo’s journey as independent artists.

Feast your ears as you enter Sounds Of The Street for the second time.

5. Raquela – ‘I Wish You Well’

‘I Wish You Well’ is the latest single by singer-songwriter, Raquela. Written and composed by the artist herself and produced by Matteo Depares, this power ballad is the title track and second release from Raquela’s mini-EP.

‘I Wish You Well’ has a very personal meaning for the artist. And with good reason – it was written right after a breakup.

“I began writing the song after it dawned on me that I was in a loveless relationship. It helped me find the strength to move on,” Raquela writes.

6. Myles – ‘God’s Gonna Cut You Down’

Mixed and mastered by Graham Coleiro (a.k.a. DJ Mac), Myles Azzopardi has released his rendition of God’s Gonna Cut You Down, a heavy take on the track made big by Johnny Cash and later by Marilyn Manson.

The song was traditionally an American folk song recorded in 1946, but now Myles has spiced it up, and in such a way that would make a Maltese metal-head blush.

7. SKALD – ‘Azzar’

And last but not least, SKALD has given us the gem that is ‘Azzar’ – their latest release.

As the band continues breathing life into Maltese literature and culture, ‘Azzar’ reels in SKALD’s natural storytelling element, giving the song its own unique vibe.

With its catchy rhythm and a superb inclusion of folk instruments this tune is one that undoubtedly deserves a place on your playlist.

Without question, these songs need to make their way on your next Spotify playlist. Be it the one you listen to while you’re in the car, at the gym, or at home with friends.
