Maltese-Canadian musician Jason Bajada’s latest album Loveshit II (blondie & the backstabberz) is a twenty-track cocktail of chilled out Indie-Folk.

Tracks like “Final Breath”, “Blondie”, and “The Worst Year Of My Life” all have an strangely familiar aura to them, despite being only released on September 1st. Bajada provides us with an odd déjà vu-inducing listening experience. On one hand, you know damn well there’s no way you can know the words to these week-old tunes, yet that doesn’t prevent you from intuitively attempting to sing along.

Track titles like “Help Me Feel Nothing At All”, “Painkiller”, and “The Worst Year Of My Life” are dead giveaways to the beautifully melancholic tunes and lyrics that await listeners’ ears throughout Loveshit II. While they mightn’t be the most overly-uplifting of songs, Bajada offers his listeners a different emotional outlet. His melodies and well crafted lyrics provide listeners with plenty of room to relate, reflect, and meditate on, well… love shit.

Bajada recently addressed his fans via Facebook post and gave a bit of backstory behind the cutting track “Help Me Feel Nothing At All”.

“I’ve been quite explicit about my depression, suicidal tendencies & my trip to the hospital in interviews as of late. It’s not my intention to play the victim. However, the overwhelming amount of backstabbing and psychological violence I went through had left me battered and blue. Here’s the song I wrote when all of this was happening a little over a year ago… “

In another, more recent Facebook post directed to his faithful fans, Bajada reflected on Loveshit II, and all that he went through while creating the album:

“Honestly, I could not be more proud of a collection of songs. This monster of an album saved my life at a time where everything was falling apart. Every lyric has been painstakingly crafted and every single song is my favourite. I hope it resonates with you in a warm, deep and meaningful way. Personally, I’m in a much better headspace than when I wrote it and couldn’t be more excited to get out there and play shows for you guys.”

We hope to hear more from Bajada in the future, but for now we’ll just pop Loveshit II on for one more spin…
