Spotify Wrapped: 5 Maltese Artists Who Killed It This Year
As the year is coming to an end, Spotify has released its annual Spotify Wrapped.
We have seen so many emerging local artists throughout the years, but which have done the best this year?
In no actual numerical order here’s a list of artists that absolutely outdone themselves and put Malta on the map this year.
1. Eddie Fresco
Eddie Fresco has always captivated us with his underground energy. Being not just a pioneer in the underground niche but also an all-round rockstar, Eddie has racked up 9 million streams in total this year!
With the release of his new project ”Vratit Se Zpatiky” with international artist PTK already racking up over 400,000 streams, Eddie is set to take his music career to the next level next year!
‘‘I’m an artist from the middle of nowhere. They never thought I would ever make it out with my music. We are closer than ever to put this island on the map” he recently stated in his story.
2. AIDAN
Aidan has had an outstanding year, with Ritmu alone gaining over 200,000 views on Youtube and 473,000 streams on Spotify.
One can’t help but notice how much Aidan has excelled throughout the year.
”Can’t thank you enough,” Aidan told his fans.
3. Tash Sultana
Tash Sultana has rocked yet again another year, garnering over 2 million streams monthly – she has become an icon!
Tash, who is half Australian and half Maltese, has released an MTV Unplugged project which includes a series of her live performances in Melbourne.
However racking up millions of streams on a project is nothing new for Tash – find below her break-out song, Jungle.
4. Emma Muscat
Emma Muscat has definitely had a remarkable year, following her Eurovision song ”I Am What I Am”
Representing Malta in the Eurovision Song Contest is no joke and despite her disappointing result, one cannot help but admit that she has helped put Malta on the map and made all of us so proud.
5. The Travellers
Racking up some real streams, The Travellers have become a national treasure when it comes to local-pop music.
Following their recent drop this year ”Is-Sbuħija ta’ Dan iż-Żmien” the group is only gaining more attention.
Whilst already having other songs like ”Ersaq Hdejja” and ”Xemx U Xita” standing on hundreds of thousands of streams – it’s easy to see which direction the group is heading towards.
