That’s Enough Fun For Tonight! Police Shut Down Italian Singer’s Valletta Concert
A concert in Valletta by Italian singer Vinicio Capossela ended prematurely last night after police shut it down due to their playing loud music at a late hour.
Caposella was the headline act for Notte Bianca’s folk music stage at Pjazza Teatru Rjal and took to the stage with his band at around midnight to perform an act inspired by Caravaggio’s famous The Beheading of St John the Baptist.
Audience members told The Times of Malta that theatre employees tried to stop the band from playing at 1:45am, apparently because they had overrun their allotted time. However, Caposella and co ignored these requests and kept on playing, even after their microphones were turned off.

Police officers were called in shortly afterwards and were booed loudly by the audience as their presence brought the concert to an end.
Notte Bianca’s artistic director Sean Buhagiar told The Times that Caposella and his band were “flabbergasted” when they saw the police officers but that they “took it lightly”.
“They just expected to know before they saw the police storm under the stage,” he said.
