Malta, especially considering how small the country is, has a lot of of budding musicians. Some are pros, some are just starting out – but all of them need high quality and proper equipment.

Olimpus Music Ltd. was founded in 1988. It moved from it’s previous location in Msida to open one of the largest and most comprehensive music stores on the island. Expect every type of musical item you could need – everything from guitar strings to DJ pads to grand pianos, as well as brands like  Marshall, Ibanez and Vox.

A tuition centre and backline provider run by a top local drummer, this is the place to come for all things drum and guitar.

The string specialists, they are agents for everyone from Washburn Guitars, PRS Guitars, Seymour Duncan Pickups and Pedals, and so many more. All products purchased come with a two year warranty, and they can even restore your guitar.

4. Knight’s Music

Opened by professional musicians for professional musicians, their fun shop has gear hanging in literally every space. You’ll find what you need here. 

5. Pejxa

Poala

These guys are the distributors for awesome brands like Tama drums as well as Korg electronics. They also claim to have the “best prices in Europe.”

6. Med Music

Mosta

Med Music in Mosta is the place to go to for all things classical. They represent prestigious brands like Petrof, Wienbach and Rosler acoustic pianos, as well as Classenti digital upright and grand pianos and Amati Brass and wind instruments. They also have tons of the latest music theory books.

7. Sun Sounds

Sliema

Inspired by their passion for music and their wish to surround lives with it. Sun Sounds has evolved into much more than just a music shop.

Expect to find vintage and used guitars, basses, pianos, percussions and other instruments as well as a line of new guitars and refurbished new old stock. They also offer professional repairs and restorations on stringed instruments and also tube amp repairs.

Run by a guitar-head, this is the place to go for guitar lessons and advice for all things stringed.

9. Music Link

Birkirkara

Music Link bill themselves as the link between music and musicians, they have some super interesting pieces of great music equipment, such as electric drum pieces, unplugged drums, and cool cymbal bags.

BONUS: Futuretech

Around Malta and Gozo

Futuretech is famous for their installations in the entertainment, night life and DJ business. It is second-to-none in sound reinforcement and boasts of having provided lighting systems for different venues ranging from churches, bars, restaurants as well as nightclubs on the island.

Futuretech are the guys to call when you are stuck last minute without an essential piece of equipment, or indeed want someone else to take care of the equipment logistics of an event.
