“Walking Never Killed Anyone” Howard Keith Shouts Out Ed Sheeran Concert Organisation

After everything was said and done yesterday, it looked like the 35,000-strong Ed Sheeran concert not only went off without a hitch, but managed to exceed expectations and defy the many criticism its unique transportation system had. So much so, that it also attracted the praise of other major promoters.
“All those who complained about Ed Sheeran traffic management can hopefully realise that organising mass events is impossible without a bit of sacrifice,” Howard Keith Debono wrote earlier today. Walking never killed anyone… on the contrary, it’s healthy.”
A seasoned artist manager and event organiser who is one of the people behind the massive Earth Garden festival (which was recently held at the same place in Ta’ Qali), Debono had only words of praise to the organisers, suppliers and crew of last night, saying he was definitely glad of his “last-minute decision to attend”.
Calling it “another successful event in Malta”, Debono’s main argument was clearly directed at people who had said the concert would be a mess because people were not allowed to drive all the way into the venue and park nearby, instead being told to either walk a bit longer than usual (around 10 to 20 minutes) or make use of a €10 shuttle service being offered by the organisers.

“What an honour to be able to do what we do,” greatt co-founder Mark Grech wrote this morning following yesterdays’ record-breaking concert. “Having an A-LIST artist of such a calibre definitely showed the best in all of us – the team, suppliers and the professionals behind the scenes. We have what it takes to make big things and if we trust professionals in doing their job, we will be definitely at par with all other top counties in the world.”
“A special thank you goes to all authorities who worked together on all fronts to make sure that the experience from entry to exit is next to seamless,” Grech continued, calling the shuttle service “a first for Malta despite the hurdles” which not only worked but also “set a new standard”.
Did you attend last night’s concert? Do you agree with Grech and Debono’s assessment of the system used?
