A Canadian high school band played Maestro Archibald Mizzi’s iconic ‘The King’.

“My students get a kick out of playing this chart. I’m pretty sure we are the first high school band to ever play this chart in Canada if not the world,” Fr Bressani CHS Music Program wrote on social media.

“I started my band journey back in 1989 when I joined the Malta Band Club. The Maltese marches that we would play throughout the summer across the GTA, even at @icparishwoodbridge’s Festa, have always struck a chord with me,” the post reads.

Mizzi, born in 1952, received the Republic Day award last year for his service to the country in the world of music.

The King remains his most popular march, having helped put Malta’s name on the map. It was chosen as the main theme of the Italian film ‘Dopo Mezzanotte’ and the very popular Italian TV series ‘Ispettore Montalbano’.
