Watch: ‘It’s Been The Best Year Of My Life’ – Maltese Drummer Reflects On Touring The World With UK Artist Myles Smith

Lovin Malta sat down with Maltese musician Daniel Said who’s currently touring the world as UK artist Myles Smith’s drummer.

Said is currently the full-time and exclusive drummer for Myles Smith, a British artist who boasts over a million fans and who is taking the Maltese musician with him across the world for his two upcoming tours: The Slightly Less Lonely Tour (2024) and the We Were Never Strangers Tour (2025). 

Said opened up about the challenges, rewards, and incredible moments he’s experienced amid this dream of a journey.

“I hit a point where I’m like, I don’t think I’m going anywhere. All my friends are getting married, buying property, settling down and I’m stuck here in a flat share with nothing coming in. That period was the lowest point,” Daniel expressed

“There is no way you can possibly, as a drummer, end up playing for renowned UK-based artists, US-based artists, if you do not leave,” Said explained the reason behind his move to London.

The drummer finished a Masters at the Institute of Contemporary Music Performance where he met Joe Devine who introduced him to Myles Smith and the rest was history.

Said is also first Maltese artist to ever feature on the major American live show Today Show when he performed with Smith on 9th July in New York.
