WATCH: ‘Lie Becomes The Law’ – Maltese Indie Rock Band Take Us To A Dystopian World For Their Latest Single
Maltese indie rock legends Beangrowers have dropped a new single (and a follow-up album announcement), and it’s one of the most relevant things out right now.
Dystopia touches on the subject of industrialisation, specifically “the towers of concrete in the sky”, and how they’ve become the focal point of society today.
We are told that this is for the greater good, but in the in the end the “lie becomes the law” and autonomy is sidelined for the bigger “plan”. As Beangrowers put it, “The past is gone, To dust you go, And on and on, The plan it goes”.
Dystopia is a fitting name for the melancholic track which is also accompanied by a music video featuring vintage footage of buildings being destroyed, in reverse.
Overlaid are band members Alison Galea, Ian Schranz and Mark Sansone (choreographed by Steffi Schranz) performing in front of a green screen, creating a very DIY/ retro feel to the music video.
In their Facebook post announcing the single, Beangrowers also hinted that a new album will be out soon, but haven’t given us a release date yet.
Coincidentally (or probably not) Dystopia has dropped at a time when Malta is going through unprecedented economic and infrastructure growth.
