Watch: Maltese Veteran Mary Carmen Wows Judges On The Voice Senior Italy

A veteran Maltese singer known for her vocal chops has wowed Italian judges with her powerful voice on a popular TV show.
74-year-old Mary Carmen Scerri goes by the name ‘Malta’s Rita Pavone’ as she has been covering the famous Italian-Swiss singer’s songs since she was 15. Originally from Żebbug, she’s now married to a Sicilian man named Ernesto – and she appeared on The Voice Senior Italy to try her luck.
Appearing during the blind audition, Scerri steps up with a cheeky smile on her face, before belting out Pavone’s Fortissimo, leading to judges Loredana Berté and Ricchi e Poveri turning around in their chairs.
Needless to say, she impressed viewers both with her charisma as well as her voice.
Scerri ended up going with Ricchi e Poveri, starting her The Voice journey.
