Il-Fosos was glowing last weekend for the Joseph Calleja concert featuring world-renowned tenor Andrea Bocelli.

Joseph Calleja’s annual concert might just have been the best concert of the summer ad surpassed everyone’s highest expectations with its top-quality production, sound, visuals and artists, who hit the stage and sang their hearts out all night long.

It was also the first time Ira and Joseph performed together ever… and if you weren’t there to witness it, here’s our best attempt to try to recreate the magical evening.

Joseph Calleja was joined on stage by a number of notable, home-grown artists including X Factor runner up Nicole Frendo who performed an awesome cover of Prince’s ‘Purple Rain’.

She also had the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to join Andrea Bocelli for a duet.

X Factor and Eurovision sensation Michela Pace was in the house to perform (what has now become a signature song in her set) ‘Shallow’.

Joseph was also joined by Maltese Soprana Gillian Zammit who doubled as Desdemona and chorus master of the children’s choir throughout the show!

One of the many highlights of the evening was the much-anticipated duet between two of Malta’s finest, Ira Losco and Joseph Calleja; who performed for the first time together.

Andrea Bocelli’s return was as surreal as ever, with the tenor putting on a performance that can’t be described as anything less than outstanding.

No operatic performance is complete without an orchestra of which Malta’s Philarmonic proved to be the very best for the occasion.

Not to mention the children’s choir who undeniably stole the show with their performance of Lion King’s ‘Circle Of Life’. The future of music is bright thanks to these kids!

Looking back on the evening, it was nothing short of magical. The Fosos looked like something out of a fairy tale and it’s all thanks to the hard work of the artists and team behind the event, Malta really knows how to put on a show!

When JP's not too busy working on polyrhythmic beats, you'll probably find him out and about walking his dog.
