A fire broke out in a field along Triq il-Qaliet, Marsaskala at around 9pm last night, with emergency responders quickly called to the scene.

Civil Protection Department officials managed to bring the flames under control, preventing the fire from spreading further in the dry and windy conditions.

Police later confirmed that there were no signs of foul play, and early indications suggest the blaze may have been sparked by the intense heat and strong winds currently sweeping across the islands.
