A Very Maltese Time Machine Is Coming To Mellieħa This Weekend
The new venture has been introduced to keep our memories alive
Have you ever wanted to travel back in time to see what life back then was like? Just to experience life from the eyes of someone from a completely different timeline? Maybe you could also impress them with your phone and the technology you'd present? Well, it's about to become possible in Mellieħa this weekend... without the paradoxes and potentially catastrophic results.
Magna Żmien, Solar Cinema and the Mellieħa Local Council are proud to present their very own time machine. Magna Żmien, or The Magnificent Memories Machine, is here to immerse you in a night of Maltese nostalgia.
Magna Żmien’s aim is to collect, curate and convert fading memories and making them available for us thanks to the digitalisation of video and sound collections.
You can also provide your own home videos to get them converted here. What’s not to adore about this project?
The time machine will be showcasing local memories, and it won't be stopping at Mellieħa. After this weekend, it will be making numerous stops around the island.
The first installation will take place on the 16th (this Saturday) at 8.00pm and will feature performances by the Banda ta’ Memorji Meraviljużi and Armchair Voyager Winstin.
Tiny Island will be performing a visual narrative accompanied by Timothy Garrett and his sound installation.
The night will also feature a one hour film programme about our memories, which will of course be curated by the amazing Solar Cinema.
The event is being supported by the Valletta 2018 Foundation.
