Miss The Azure Window? This Weekend’s Exhibition In Gozo Is Just For You
It’s been over six months since Gozo’s iconic Azure Window disappeared beneath the waves after a night of stormy weather.
From the slew of people hastily changing their profile pictures to the photoshopped images of the Azure Window in its former glory, our collective nostalgia is doing its best to ensure we never watch that one Game of Thrones scene the same way again.
Enter the Azure Watch exhibition, a month long showcase of tributes to the fallen arch in attempt to preserve the image of the Azure Window whilst also creating awareness of the surrounding landscape and the implications of the arch’s collapse.
Giuseppe Fanizza will be overseeing the Azure Watch Archive alongside Spazju Kreattiv. Having experience in participative artistic processes, Fanizza and Spazju Kreattiv wishes to make the Archive as open as possible with volunteer iconographic researches already on board, and an open invitation to interested parties currently available.
The exhibit will be hosted in the 17th century Dwejra watchtower, having been artfully restored by Din l-Art Ħelwa, and will run from the 30th of September until the 29th of October, and will include audio recordings, films, photographs and exhibits. All citizens, artists and activists are invited to participate in the project by sharing their photos, memories and experiences of visiting the nearby Azure Window by contacting [email protected]
