9 Reasons Glee Was Probably Based On St Aloysius Sixth Form

Whether you like it or not, the two years spent at St Aloysius Sixth form will follow you wherever you go in life. Either because you believe them to be the most definitive of your adolescence, or because your non-SAC friends will forever berate you for it, from a place of actual-mocking tinged with outsider envy.

So formative are the years of any SAC student that we believe the unique college culture reputation made its all the way to the Paramount Studios in Hollywood, where a little show called Glee based itself on the San Alwiġi model. Here’s all the reasons we know this to be true.

1. Singing and dancing will get you out of everything/anything

You have to miss this biology class two days before the A-Level?! Oh, you’ve got rehearsals for the boys’ dance? That’s fine.

2. Everyone is horny

You can’t get by one episode/day without someone having sex, or as the SAC staff would  cringingly call it “heavy petting”.

3. Everyone also thinks theirs is the greatest love story of all time

This isn’t just some meaningless making-out at Blue Bar, ta! We’re soul mates, okay?

4. No one is cool

Even the cool kids aren’t that cool and spend their time welling up at the corniest of musical numbers. Same exact thing can be said for SAC.

5. The friendships are so unlikely

Truth is, everyone’s a bit of an outsider anyway, so the social awkwardness cancels itself out and results in the most magical and frighteningly weird relationships ever.

6. There’s always a huge moral dilemma to argue

A SAC-wide boner takes form whenever a moral, social or political debate presents itself to the student body. There’s an after-lecture committee for virtually everything, and if deliberating in small groups outside the classroom between lectures could save the world…

7. There’s that one teacher that scares the living daylights out of you

Complete with inappropriate, politically incorrect remarks. Every year.

8. People cry a lot

Whether it’s because of the love, or the social injustices, or just the songs – tears are your greatest currency in SAC/Glee.

9. It always ends with a massive number

Whether it’s the glee club regionals or just the final night of Soiree, there’s always one mass number which includes all students – from every walk of college corridor. And it’s the best five minutes of natural high any human can experience.
