Maltova: The Ultimate Maltese Throwback

Nostalgia abounds on popular Facebook group The Salott this week, where a user reminisced about having a bowl of Maltova as a child. As evidenced by the slew of responses, bowls of Maltova are essentially a rite of passage as a kid growing up in Malta, whichever way you slice it.
The post got over one thousand positive (and clearly nostalgia-driven) reactions, with over 200 replies.

For those of you scratching their heads, Maltova is a brand of infant food consisting of tiny beads of pasta that can be mixed with anything from cream cheese to Bovril – the Häagen-Dazs of child comfort food if you will.
The possibilities are endless, with users suggesting mixing Maltova chicken stock, La Vache Qui Rit cheese, a beaten egg, grated parmesan, a healthy helping of Bovril, and even a stick of butter. And of course, let’s not forget the classic Ramek cheese.

“I still do at 65, too good!” commented one Facebook user. Whatever your childhood favourite, it’s clear that most people still enjoy a bowl or cuppa as their guilty pleasure.
