One Insane Screenshot To Perfectly Summarise Malta’s Current Roadworks Situation
If you’ve been complaining about there being too many roadworks around the Maltese islands, you’re going to want to look away for a bit.
This morning, a screenshot from the highly useful (and free) Malta Roads Traffic Update app showed the current roadworks around the Birkirkara, Attard, Balzan areas.
A typical MRTU traffic map would show one or two problematic points on the island, but this morning’s update (taken at around 10am) was a pile-up of orange ‘Roadworks’ markers.
MRTU lets users update each other on varying states of traffic around the island, represented by different colours, and it’s slowly becoming indispensable as traffic around Malta worsens.
Yellow and red markers correspond to the worst traffic situations, corresponding to Heavy Traffic and Standstill respectively.
Yellow markers are defined as “slow-moving”, while red ones are attached with the message, “Try to avoid as much as possible” to drivers. Orange warnings relate to “road closures due to roadworks and any other events”. The app updates every 30 minutes.
