One Of Malta’s Biggest Frontmen Is Performing A Solo Concert With A Good Cause
Maltese band Winter Moods have been the most recognisable artists on the island for a couple of decades. Last August, frontman Ivan Grech performed a solo concert at Valletta’s Pjazza Teatru Rjal, getting extremely positive feedback with many of the band’s fans asking for more. Now, Ivan is back, in another big concert which is all being organised for a great cause.
On the 18th of July, Ivan Grech will be performing a concert in Valletta, and all ticket proceeds will be donated to ALS Malta. Considering last year’s success and the anticipation for this year’s edition, the event is set to become an annual appointment. On his Facebook page, the Winter Moods frontman explained how he’s looking forward to see Maltese people united once more following what was definitely a tense period leading up to this year’s general election.
ALS Malta is the dream of Bjorn Formosa, who stole the hearts of thousands when he decided to document his entire battle with the chronic terminal disease. Formosa went on Facebook Live this week to announce the concert, urging people to attend and donate to ALS Malta.
“My solo performances are a bit more personal,” Ivan Grech said. “It’s all mad up of songs that left an impact on my life and, since music is an integral part of my life, there are a lot of songs to refer to. Songs from different ears; from the 1960s till today, songs that trigger memories and take me back to a time, a place… it truly becomes an emotional journey”. Of course, Winter Moods classics will still be making an appearance in Ivan’s setlist, which will be given a slightly different touch by the different musicians on stage.
The concert will be going down at the gorgeous Ta’ Liesse in Valletta, which also sees the likes of the Jazz Festival in summer. For more information, you can check out the official Facebook event page. Tickets are available online and can also be purchased via the hotline 79209420.
