Orphaned Maltese Pigs May Have Found Their Dream Home, But There’s A Catch

Animal Liberation Malta are still fighting for those adorable pigs to find a forever home. Not everyone has enough space or commitment to keep one of these cuties at home.

These 14 babies have recently been given a wonderful opportunity — a spacious area full of trees has been made available for them in Siġġiewi.

This is an educational farm where school children can go on trips to learn more about farm animals. It’s a place where these pigs can be happy, safe and well cared for.

Because they truly deserve it.

“A builder who owns his own company wanted to help, so him and his men came and did lots of work yesterday on the area to make it secure and safe for the pigs. They worked free of charge in the blazing sun,” Animal Liberation Malta told us.

However there’s a bit of a problem. The authorities need to either make a change in law or make an exception for these piggies.

“Current laws state that this would be illegal, as only two pigs can be kept for those other than pig farmers. We want this to change, so these pigs can be rescued or at least for an exception to be made so the pigs can have this wonderful opportunity,” a spokesperson from the group said.

All the remaining pigs are female and one baby who is a male. They’re all chipped and registered and have regular checkups by local vets. If the authorities agree, these beauties will have their own home and the public will be able to visit.
