Bila has been gaining popularity throughout theses past few years due to their amazing style and foot stomping beats. They made waves again recently by getting signed with an internationally acclaimed Canadian Label Kingfisher Bluez.
The band also had its music video for “Do What I Want” debut through the world famous Exclaim! — a Canadian music website which covers new cutting-edge music from all genres from around the world. The band’s new 7″ is to be released on the 31st of May and will be a co-release between Malta’s Kewn Records and Vancouver’s Kingfisher Bluez.
“it’s super cool to have something come out on such an exciting Canadian label and to have the single debut to the world via Exclaim!”
The band is made up of the amazing trio Nick Morales, Caroline Spiteri and Samwel Mallia — who has joined the band recently. “Basically the band started as some thing to do for fun and we never thought much about it” Nick Morales told us.
“Things progressed from there and we got the deal with Kingfisher thanks to his help. We also started Kewn Records from this whole thing.” Morales told Lovin Malta.
“This is basically a dream come true for us”
“It’s super cool to have something come out on such an exciting Canadian label and to have the single debut to the world via Exclaim!” bassist Samwel Mallia told us. “It feels like we have a foot in some door to bounce into new territory and hopefully be on the way to being shoulder to shoulder with people who are making something for themselves in these bustling independent music circles. We’d love to bring our high-octane live sets to as many corners of the world as possible too, so it’s just a super cool feeling to see the work featured there” he said.
After some time they were approached by Phantom Limb Records, and the rest is history. “This is basically a dream come true for us and we are extremely excited for the future. Kingfisher is a very respected label and Tim, who runs the label is a really nice guy — he liked Bila enough to put us out on his label, and for us that’s pretty mind-blowing” Morales said.
