A local company was in the ultimate Christmas spirit when they donated 1.5 tonnes of dog and cat food to two sanctuaries in need earlier this week.

“We encourage everyone out there to think of the less fortunate furry friends this Christmas,” co-founder of JL Cleaning, Jean-Luc Micallef, said.

While Micallef’s status did not specify which sanctuaries benefited from this kind gesture, a Facebook post from Rita Giordano, founder of a non-profit organisation, confirmed that some of the food was sent to the Love for Strays Malta Foundation.

“Thank you to Jean-Luc Micallef and to Marley Grech Zammit from JL Cleaning , JL Properties and The G Hotel by JL for their kind and generous donation towards our rescued animals in our sanctuary and for the strays in our streets.”

This is just one of many charitable gestures in Malta this Christmas season. We Are Not A Shop is a recently launched online philanthropic website dedicated to gathering funds for chosen local charities.

Meanwhile, 150 Panettones were donated to families, children and residents of Agency for the Welfare of Asylum Seekers.

Lovin Malta has just closed off its #LovinMiliedChallenge through which hundreds of people in Malta donated festive boxes filled with all types of useful gifts.
