After three weeks of hard campaigning, RMJ Horse Rescue has managed to raise €10,000 to send seven rescued horse to their lush green forever homes abroad.

It was a long and tough journey for RMJ who over the past few months have had to face abusive landowners and the possibility of closing down. But through sheer perseverance, and their undying love for their horses, the charity has managed to defy all odds and collectively (with the help of people like you) raise €10,000 to fill a truck that will send seven of the NGO’s rescued horses abroad.

The NGO set up a ‘GoGetFunding’ page with the goal of reaching €10,000 by August 24th but after a generous donation of €750 between a group of individuals, the target amount was put down to €9250.

“Less than 3 weeks ago when we first put up the fundraiser we must admit we weren’t sure we could make it. We knew it was no easy task trying to raise such a large amount in such a short time,” RMJ said in a Facebook post.

“Here we are 18 days later and the total amount has been raised and all 7 horses will be loaded onto the truck!”

The horses will be sent to various places around Europe including Sweden and Scotland where they’ll be able to enjoy the rest of their life in retirement.

This was all made possible thanks to the generous donations made by the public and goes to show that, amidst the chaos of what is going on, the majority of the people do care about the welfare of Malta’s animals.

“We don’t even know how to begin to thank each and every one of you that donated, shared and worked so hard to make this happen!”

We can’t wait to see how the horses settle in their new homes!
