Abandoned Maltese Dog With Terrible Infections Finally Finds A Loving Home
A two-year-old dog which made headlines a couple of weeks ago after being abandoned in a terrible state has finally found a loving home, and her story is stealing the hearts of hundreds of Maltese people.
The dog, a Chow Chow called Laika, was simply dropped off at Marsa’s Association for Abandoned Animals (AAA) sanctuary by her former family on Sunday 24th September.
Rosalind Agius from AAA had told NET News that, while there were 80 more dogs at the sanctuary, Laika’s story resonated with so many people because of the terrible state she was brought in, and how easy it was to remedy her problems.
“Her skin infection has been there for months, to the point where it’s now mouldy and bleeding,” Rosalind had said. “But after only three days, with anti-biotics and anti-inflammatory medication, the skin has already recovered. So all her family needed to do was take her to the vet.”
Three weeks later, Laika found a new loving home with Kurt and Glenn, who had already visited her twice while she was healing at the sanctuary. Her new name, the couple announced, would be Stilla. And looking at how happy she looks in all the photos with them, she really does look like a star.
“Two become three,” the two announced to Stilla and the world on a Facebook post from a couple of weeks ago. “We’re so lucky to have you baby girl, and we promise to give you all that you’ve been missing.”
Kurt and Glenn have been sharing multiple photos with Stilla over the last couple of weeks, and haven’t stopped thanking the people who helped them get to this point. “Thank you AAA and Rosalind Agius for non-stop dedication and medication not only to Stilla but to all the other dogs,” Glenn said. “Special thanks to Super Marisa Attard for her help!”
