Animal Welfare Urges Public To Join Search For Max The Golden Retriever Tomorrow Morning
Animal Welfare is urging the public to join them in a national search for Max, a young partially-blind Leukemia survivor’s guide dog, tomorrow morning.
The search will begin at 9am at Ta’ Kandja, Siġġiewi.
“Through its human resources and specialised equipment, the Animal Welfare Directorate is doing its utmost to organise this search. However, the government is also issuing an appeal to people who are ready to help in the search.”
“The story of Miguel Bugeja and his dog Max has impacted me on a personal level just as it did many Maltese people,” Parliamentary Secretary for Animal Rights Alicia Bugeja Said said.
“A dog’s love is so precious and capable of overcoming any obstacle. I therefore urge everyone to help out Animal Welfare, both by providing useful information that can lead to the dog’s discovery, and by directly participating in the search.”
Max, a golden retriever, went missing on 7th September, in the area of Ħal Far.
The dog’s owner, Miguel Bugeja, had Leukemia, and his vision was impaired after undergoing a bone marrow transplant.
Puttinu Cares described him as “very friendly and is trained to be a guide dog”.
Several rewards have been offered to anyone who can return Max home safe and sound, with Miguel’s family offering €1,000.
