New images from CCTV footage have been released with regards to one of the alleged cat killers in Sliema from the early hours of 11th June.

Animal activist and Real Animal Rights member, Dr Romina Frendo has shared some images taken from CCTV footage which could lead to the capture of one of the alleged cat killers.

These images pertain to the attack on a stray cat named Pupa, an elderly friendly cat. The CCTV footage has been shared with the police and the case is under investigation.

CCTV footage was captured from Our Saviour Street as the alleged cat killer walked past the residence at 3.11am wearing a black T-shirt with his left arm’s sleeve rolled up or torn off, and long black trousers.

The same person is then caught by the another CCTV camera in which he is seen running out of Our Saviour street. At the top of St Charles street he is seen once again, this time, slamming Pupa to the floor. He is then seen moving towards the right pavement where Pupa’s body and blood stains were found the next morning.

Three minutes later, the perpetrator leaves Pupa on the ground and walks away into the adjacent road and disappears out of view until 3.17am when he was spotted walking back to the spot where he let Pupa’s body. He is seen pushing something back towards the pavement with his leg but it is not clear what he was pushing away.

At 3.19am the perpetrator returned back to Pupa’s body and bent down to inspect better. It could be in this moment, he chopped off part of the tail that was found beside Pupa’s body the morning after the attack.

A minute later, he leaves Pupa’s body, only to return at 3.21am and leave once again at 3.22am.

“I appeal to the public to share their CCTV footage. Many have decided not to do so out of fear for their safety, but sharing the CCTV footage can be done anonymously to protect the residents’ privacy,” Frendo told Lovin Malta.

Frendo went on to appeal to the public to report any missing or dead cats to the police or to Animal Welfare Malta for their investigation of the case.
