The Happy School Dog Undergoes Successful Surgery Ahead Of Her Prosthetic Journey
Raya, the beloved dog of The Happy School, who has captured the hearts of students, staff, and countless people beyond the school gates, has taken an important step in her long journey towards receiving a prosthetic leg.
Just last week, Raya was taken to Galea Veterinary Clinic as part of the early assessment process for her prosthetic limb. After months of care and preparation, she finally underwent surgery yesterday, and the intervention was a success.
The operation marks a major milestone for the gentle, affectionate dog who has become an emotional pillar within the school community. Now, Raya will shift her focus to a gradual, day-by-day recovery. She will spend the coming weeks healing, regaining strength, and adjusting before eventually returning to school to reunite with the children who adore her.

Once she is fully recovered, Raya will begin the next phase of her journey: the process of receiving her prosthetic leg, giving her the mobility and comfort she deserves.
Lelio Spiteri, headmaster of the school, described the process as “a long road, but we’ll get there.” The outpouring of support from parents, students, and the wider community has been overwhelming, with many expressing how Raya has become much more than a school pet.
She has become a symbol of resilience, kindness, and the special bond between animals and children.
As Raya continues her recovery, the community remains right behind her, cheering her on every step of the way.
