The Malta Police Force has happily reported “a heartwarming story of compassion and dedication,” from one of their officers – sharing photos of officer Lisette Agius, who rescued “Ġanni” – a hedgehog trapped in a house’s outdoor plumbing.

“PC 2315 L. Agius yesterday came to the rescue of a little hedgehog trapped in a water drain inside a residence,” said a Police representative on social media.

“With determination, she not only managed to free the poor creature but also provided a sense of comfort, soothing its fears.”

“The hedgehog, affectionately named Ġanni was given some much-needed water, and in order to ensure its well-being Ġanni was released back into the wild, where it belongs.”

Though it is true that many people do not appreciate the work done by police officers, almost everyone is sure to agree that this act was a merciful, unequivocal good.

“Well done for making a difference in the lives of not only humans but also our precious wildlife,” concluded the Malta Police Force post.
