Maltese Photographer Encounters Endangered Bull Ray In Night Dive
Maltese underwater photographer Henry Copperstone encountered a beautiful but endangered stingray on our shores.
“It’s refreshing to see so many juvenile Bull Rays this year keeping in mind that they are on the critically endangered list,” Copperstone wrote on Instagram.
Bull Rays use Malta as a nursery, another reason “why we seriously need to start protecting and preserving our coast,” Copperstone said.
This isn’t the first time Copperstone has come across this majestic marine animal, with a series of images posted these last couple of days.
The bull ray can usually be distinguished from other rays by its distinctive diamond shape and light blue stripes. The formation of the stripes act as a sort of finger-print pattern that serves as an identifier of each member of the species.
