Nominations Open For The Animal Honours Awards 2025

The Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Animal Rights, Anton Refalo, together with the Parliamentary Secretary for Fisheries, Aquaculture and Animal Rights, Alicia Bugeja Said, announced that nominations for the Animal Honours Awards 2025 are now open.
Minister Refalo explained, “The Animal Honours Awards is a special occasion where we recognise and celebrate all those who work closely with animals, as well as the animals that make an impact in our lives. These awards are not only symbolic, but they play an important role in raising awareness about proper animal care. This further strengthens our collective commitment to animal welfare.”
Parliamentary Secretary Alicia Bugeja Said added, “The Animal Honours Awards are an opportunity to acknowledge the work of many volunteers, veterinarians, farmers, and responsible establishments in the animal care sector. That’s exactly why we’re launching this award process again this year — to recognise these individuals. This year, we’ve also introduced a new category: ‘Most Innovative School Project for Animal Welfare’.”
The Minister and Parliamentary Secretary thanked the Office of the Commissioner for Animal Welfare for organising the event, and recognised the efforts made to ensure the continued success of these awards year after year. They also expressed their gratitude to all the workers and volunteers who dedicate themselves daily to animal wellbeing.
Nominations will be accepted from Friday, 4th July until Friday, 18th July. So click here and start nominating.
After the nomination period closes, a jury appointed by the Ministry will evaluate all submissions and select three finalists for each category. The public will then be invited to vote for their favourite nominee.
