The Parliamentary Secretary for Animal Rights Alicia Bugeja Said announced that more than 700 cats were neutered this year, bringing the total since the start of the National Campaign to over 4,500.

She explained that this initiative not only helps reduce the population and spread of disease among stray cats, but also supports the cat feeders who dedicate their time to caring for animals across Malta and Gozo.

She also thanked these volunteers for their daily commitment and compassion, while noting that the campaign has been extended to include bully breed dogs and those in rural areas. So far, more than 85 dogs have been neutered as part of this effort, marking another important step in safeguarding animal welfare.
