In an effort to increase public awareness of animal welfare and care, Alicia Bugeja Said, Parliamentary Secretary for Fisheries, Aquaculture, and Animal Rights, introduced the “Check Your Pet” project during the Public Service Expo at MFCC Ta’ Qali.

She described how pet owners may bring their animals to the Expo and benefit from advice on the care of pet animals. Bugeja Said stated, “With this initiative, we want to increase awareness about the prevention of animal diseases and ensure that domestic animals are regularly checked by veterinarians.”

She urged pet owners to take advantage of this service and thanked the Directorate for Animal Welfare for organising this event, which will take place in a number of sites throughout Malta and Gozo.

According to Joseph John Vella, director of the Directorate for Animal Welfare, this programme will support the Directorate’s objectives by compelling pet owners to take more responsibility and spreading awareness of the value of providing for domestic animals.

The Check Your Pet initiative will be available during the Public Service Expo until 19th May.

Hurry and share this with pet owners!
