Puppy Allegedly Left Tied Alone With No Food For Four Days In Bormla
A puppy was allegedly left tied to the door of a Bormla residence completely alone, and without food or water for almost four days straight, a concerned neighbour told Lovin Malta.
Despite multiple cries for help, authorities are yet to act on the issue, the neighbour explained.
However, once the owner, who is believed to be an elderly and constantly in an out of hospital, returned to the premises, they allegedly handed the dog over to another person.
The mixed breed Pitbull was reportedly left tied to the house’s door on Christmas eve and spent around four days barking and crying.
“Bormla Police and Animal Welfare have been contacted multiple times, shown photos, and still have not sent anyone to help,” said one neighbour.
Meanwhile, Lovin Malta spoke to another neighbour who explained that various other Bormla residents had contacted authorities and tried to give the puppy food through the letter box so that he could eat.
The newsroom also contacted Animal Welfare who confirmed that a report had been made. When asked whether the issue is being taken care of, they informed us that they do not have any updates as of yet, however, they are going to the residence to confirm the whereabouts of the dog.
After Lovin Malta contacted the Cospicua Police Force for confirmation on the case, they paid the Bormla residence a visit and confirmed that the puppy is no longer there “since they knocked on the door and there was no barking.”
The Police informed the newsroom that a report has been filed with Animal Welfare, who are expected to conduct an inspection in the near future.
When asked whether any action will be taken against the dog’s owner, the Police Inspector told Lovin Malta that their job was solely to check the premises and inform Animal Welfare.
