RMJ’s Sanctuary Announces New Stable Block Dedicated Retired Sports Horses

RMJ Horse Rescue has excitedly announced a brand new stable block solely dedicated to housing retired sports horses while they are resting from injury or being assessed before they are rehoused abroad.
“We couldn’t think of a better way to end the year,” the sanctuary wrote on social media.
The stable block, sponsored by EquestriMalta, will be completed in 2025 when it will immediately begin to house retired sports horses within stabling of the highest standard.
An agreement between the chairperson of RMJ and that of EquestriMalta, John Huber was signed last Friday.
“EquestriMalta is Malta’s equine sport authority and has established itself as an enabler to good practices and initiatives through the numerous incentives it has offered over the past three years to the sport of polo, horse racing, show jumping and dressage. This authority has now taken a massive step in ensuring the wellbeing and safety of the horses even once they are retired from their respective sport,” RMJ wrote on social media.
“We are sure you will all understand what a milestone this is for us and everyone who works for the welfare of the horses in Malta.”
The sanctuary explained that this new block will encourage more owners to safeguard their horses’ wellbeing even once they are retired and not only while they are still competitive. The increased space will relieve some of the strain faced by the sanctuary, allowing it to take in more retired sports horses and free up more time for assessment of the animals.
“Not to mention the fact that the horses will be housed in five-star facilities.”
