Shock As Two Large Ball Pythons Found Dead In Kappara Garden
Residents were left shocked after discovering not one but two dead ball pythons in a quiet locality’s side garden.
The snakes, found in a garden between Triq il-Gardell and Triq G Despott in Kappara, were only noticed after a “terrible rotting smell” was noticed in the area.
It appears as though the dead snakes, which appear to be rather large from the photos shared on a WhatsApp group, were dumped by their owner.
Of course, dead animals should not be disposed of by merely throwing them out with the trash.
Nature Trust Malta told Lovin Malta that small pets like hamsters can be buried or discarded in black bin bags but big pets should be taken to their vet to be frozen and disposed of.
Should you ever find the corpse of a dead animal, don’t be alarmed. The best course of action would be to call Nature Trust or ERA.
In this case, the dead snakes were removed by one of the residents. It’s important to note that ball pythons are constrictors, which are not native to Malta, nor are they venomous.
The exotic species, native to South America, are called constrictors as they wrap around prey and suffocate them to death. Venomous snakes and other pets are illegal in Malta.
This isn’t the first time snakes have been spotted in Malta – just recently, a leopard snake was spotted in Siġġiewi.
