‘They Just Watched Her Die’ – Pet Owner Claims Attard Vet Clinic Failed To Act As Dog Died

A distraught pet owner, Malone Camilleri, has shared a harrowing account of the death of his beloved dog, eight-year-old Ava, at Dr Trevor Clinic in Attard.
Speaking with heartbreak, Camilleri said, “My Ava was not ‘just a dog.’ She was my daughter, my best friend, my family. I will never recover from that night, knowing the people who should have been there to help did absolutely nothing.”
According to Camilleri, the incident occurred on 24th September at 9.15pm, when Ava swallowed her Kong toy. After failed attempts to remove it and unsuccessful calls to an animal ambulance, Camilleri and his family rushed Ava to the clinic.
As they were driving to the clinic, Camilleri explained his girlfriend managed to get through to the clinic and while informing them of the emergency they were warned that they will be closing at 10pm.
He explained when they arrived, the moments which followed would “haunt him forever”.
“Three staff members told me they could do nothing – while Ava was still alive in front of them.” Despite his desperate pleas and attempts to save her himself, Ava tragically passed away before the vets intervened.
“They just stood there. They didn’t examine her, didn’t touch her, didn’t even try.”
The devastated owner wrote how one of the vets checked Ava’s heart with an instrument, only to confirm that she had passed after Camilleri had started CPR.
Malone urged other pet owners to be cautious, saying he believes the clinic could have acted: “I truly believe Dr Trevor Clinic could have done something to try and save her – or at the very least shown that they cared enough to try. But they did nothing. They just watched her die.”
The story has already sparked outrage among animal lovers online, highlighting concerns about emergency care at veterinary clinics and the importance of swift action in life-threatening situations.
