WATCH: BirdLife Releases Six Rehabilitated Birds Back Into The Maltese Wild Just In Time For Christmas

BirdLife Malta released six rehabilitated birds back into the wild on the 16th of December, to be reunited with their flock for the Christmas break.

The five Common Kestrels and one Merlin ended up in BirdLife’s hands after they were illegally shot during this year’s autumn season.

Though they were injured, the birds made their way through six-eight weeks of rehabilitation and were given the go-ahead by a Maltese Government veterinarian to be back into the wild.

The birds were ringed before being released so that they can be easily identified if found again.

Thanks to the work of BirdLife and everyone else involved, these birds will be able to enjoy Christmas back with their family, as it should always be!
