Watch: Cooper, The Dog Allegedly Maltreated By Animal Welfare Is ‘Fully Recovered’, Shelter Revealed

Two weeks after Cooper’s surgery, the dog is “completely healed and running like a deer,” according to the shelter that took him in and nurtured him.
About two weeks ago, the Association for Abandoned Animals (AAA) reported that Cooper, a Pharaoh hound dog, endured fifteen days at Animal Welfare with a broken hind leg without receiving necessary surgery.
“Today is the day,” the NGO wrote, referring to Cooper’s removal of his surgery staples and funnel.
“Cooper was let out from the extra tiny room he has lived in for the past two weeks to restrict his movement so he could heal.”
“And here is the result,” AAA continued, adding that Cooper is fully recovered and is prancing around “like a deer”.
The shelter posted footage of the dog running around, evidently excited and healed.

About a week ago, the NGO posted an update on Cooper, saying that at the shelter, “he is getting some love”.
“He has filled out nicely, is eating very well and he is putting all four feet on the ground. He is still in recovery, but we can truly say that the surgery was a success and things are going better than we expected,” the NGO wrote in a Facebook statement accompanying a tear-jerking video of Cooper cuddling with Sanctuary Manager Rosalind Agius.
“Unfortunately, we did not hear one single word from the director of animal welfare about why Cooper was left with a broken leg for weeks before he came to us,” the organisation wrote.
“Nothing, silence, as always,” the NGO continued.
A day after Lovin Malta posted about Cooper’s alleged maltreatment, Commissioner for Animal Welfare Alison Bezzina reached out to the newsroom to reveal that she had launched an official investigation into the matter.
That being said, her authority is “strictly advisory,” and ultimately, it is up to the Animal Welfare Directorate to decide whether or not to implement the suggestions based on the investigation.
