Animal Welfare Malta has recently shared an informative guide to the public on when to seek their assistance. Understanding the appropriate situations to contact them ensures that resources are utilised effectively and animals in genuine need receive timely help.
Nursing Mothers or Young Animals – If a stray is a nursing mother or has young, they may require immediate care and protection to survive.
Injury or Illness – If you notice a stray animal limping, bleeding or showing signs of illness (such as coughing, difficulty breathing or lethargy), they may need urgent medical attention.
Signs of Neglect or Abuse – If an animal looks malnourished, has scars or visible injuries, it may be a victim of abuse or neglect and needs intervention.
Endangering Traffic – If a stray is wandering in a high-traffic area and is at risk of getting hit by a vehicle, it’s important to call for assistance to prevent accidents.
