Today is World Photography Day and this year, @lorellacastillo reminds us that the camera is more than just a tool, it’s a bridge to empathy, storytelling and change.

The Maltese photographer, together with TBWA/ANG to shine light on the sadly often-overlooked residents of Association for Abandoned Animals Malta.

These older dogs, bigger breeds and those who don’t fit the ‘picture-perfect’ mould were captured by her camera, not just by face, but by their souls.

“Photography is quite literally my life. It’s more than a job, and honestly even more than just a passion. It gives me purpose, a way to process the world, and a way to connect when words fall short. Every project, every shoot feels deeply personal.

They’re not just images… they’re pieces of me,” Castillo explained.

Her portraits of the AAA dogs are proof that the lives of these overlooked dogs deserve their stories of resilience to be told and a life of love that deserves to be seen.

You can support AAA by adopting, donating or just sharing their stories. Donations can be made through BOV Mobile on 79730921 or on PayPal at [email protected].
