Last night, Alexandra Alden’s two remaining all-girl groups were both eliminated from X Factor Malta. While we genuinely feel bad for the vocal powerhouses that had to be sent home and for Alex not having any contestants to represent anymore, her emotional onstage reaction might’ve just created one of Malta’s first memes of 2019.
Yes, Alex. Really.
But the X Factor Malta voters aren’t the only thing that Alex needs to be hugely shocked by.
1. Designs for Dwejra
A couple of Russian architects came up with some insane designs to transform the Azure Window into an exhibition space.
Half of the Maltese population aren’t too wild about the idea of a metal structure taking over the Gozitan landmark… least of all Alex.
2. Stepping on a scale after Christmas
“It’s just one dinner,” you told yourself in mi-December, excitedly making your way to the fifth family gathering that month.
Now that feasting season is officially over and it’s time to actually think about what you’re stuffing in your mouth, you step on the scale… and discover new digits you haven’t seen in months.
We’re not sure whether this is your heart or your scale talking
3. When we all tried to call hail snow
Cold weather isn’t so much of a thing that we’re used to over here.
So when it hailed that one morning, many Maltese people took to social media to say it was snow that was making the islands look like a wintry wonderland.
But this was clearly false information, and some of us clearly needed to be called out for it.
4. The Corinthia land deal
The government allowed for the land in St George’s Bay that was sold to International Hotel Group to be developed into luxury residences in one of the most sought-out areas on the island.
I bet you Sandro Chetcuti and Andre Callus wished they had a stage they could storm up onto and publicly shame Malta too.
Clearly, Malta needs to collectively look at themselves and get our act together.
