Multi-instrumentalist singer songwriter Tash Sultana will not be performing in Malta on Friday, where she was due to support legendary reggae act The Wailers.

The Australian musical prodigy with Maltese roots is currently embarking on a huge world tour, which is just about completely sold out.

Tash Sultana

In a brief statement posted on Facebook, she apologised to her fans after explaining she will not be performing in Malta this time around “due to an unavoidable scheduling clash with a recording session in Australia”. She softened the blow somewhat by revealing that she will be returning to Malta next year to play her own headline show.

This has come as a shock to some Maltese fans who were excited about her stop in Malta, and some took to Facebook to air their disappointment.

“Very untidy in my opinion! And I’m a great fan… You don’t create a hype and cancel a show 10 days before,” said one Facebook user.

Nevertheless, many are still looking forward to her concert on the island next year.

The Wailers

Either way, accomplished Maltese ska band The Rifffs and of course The Wailers are still all set for their Malta concert at the Aria Complex in San Gwann. The Wailers embarked on a worldwide tour in 2014 celebrating the 30th anniversary of the release of ‘Legend’, by Bob Marley and The Wailers.

The compilation album of greatest hits is the best selling reggae album of all time, with an estimated 29 million album copies sold worldwide.
