Six Netflix Series Everyone In Malta Needs To Catch Up On This Weekend
As the days get cloudier and the weekends get rainier, this calls for one thing: Netflix series and cozy blankets.
Ahead of your Netflix and chilling, here’s a list of all the upcoming, new, and returning series you need to look out for in 2022.
1. After Life – 2019
Release Date – Season 3 | January 14th 2022
Created by and starring the man himself; Ricky Gervais. The show follows the protagonist Tony (Gervais) as he struggles to come to terms with his wife’s death. The writer attempts to adopt a new persona as he grieves in his own way.
Lovin Rating: 4/5 for its ability to depict real-life struggles, whilst also showcasing Gervais’ blunt and dark humour.
2. Ozark – 2017
Release Date – Season 4 Part 1 | 21st January 2022
Financial advisor-turned-drug-trafficker (plot twist, I know). As Ozark’s final season has premiered, we’re just jumping on the band-wagon of this hyped series that follows Marty (Jason Bateman) and his family’s involvement in becoming money launderers for one of the top drug cartels in Mexico.
Lovin Ratin: 5/5 cause #DRAMA
3. The Crown – 2016
Release Date – Season 5 | November 2022
Yes, spin-offs and movies and series surrounding the British Royal Family are a dime-a-dozen, but there’s something about Andrew Eaton’s ‘The Crown’ (an adaptation of Peter Morgan’s ‘The Audience.’) that keeps you on the edge of your seat. Even though Wikipedia and Google can summarise all four seasons with the actual stories and events, as they happened, there’s just something captivating about watching a more dramatised version of the Royal Family through the years
Lovin Ratin: 100/5 because Helena Bonham Carter is the best Princess Margaret and a queen in our eyes.
4. Inventing Anna
Release Date: Season 1 | 11th February 2022
The fact that this miniseries is written by Shonda Rhimes already has me sitting on the edge of my seat. It’s simply an added bonus that it is a true story about the investigation of Anna Delvey, who committed fraud on a grand scale while pretending to be a wealthy heiress.
Lovin Ratin: Reserved for after I’ve watched it, but definitely saving this for a cold and windy weekend
5. The Witcher – 2019
Release Date: Season 2 | 17th December 2021
Now, for all you fantasy lovers, this series is right up your street. Henry Cavill plays Geralt of Rivia – the witcher who struggles to find his place in the world as a mutated monster.
It’s okay Geralt, we love you just the way you are.
Lovin Ratin: 100000000/100
6. Young Sheldon – 2017
A more light-hearted and easy watch. Young Sheldon is a spin-off of ‘The Big Bang Theory.’ It follows the life of Sheldon Cooper, the boy genius before he knew his gang on BBT.
Definitely a fun show to watch, especially if you’re missing the Big Bang Theory, and need your weekend dose of Sheldon back!
Lovin Ratin: 5/5 because I definitely miss the OGs from Big Bang Theory!
