Who knew Malta was so good at bowling?

It turns out Malta actually has a pretty decent bowling team and we never knew about it.

In fact, they’ve proven to be one of the best teams in Europe, having won 41 medals over 22 editions of the Meditteranean Bowling Championship.

Team Malta is second on the Meditteranean leaderboard, ahead of countries like France, Italy, Spain and Israel. The only country to top them is Greece with one gold medal being the difference.

And now some of their senior athletes will be competing at the 2019 World Bowling Senior Championship in Las Vegas next month.

The World Bowling Senior Championship takes place from the 2 – 10 September and features the top senior bowlers from around the world including Walter Ray Williams Jr and Parker Bohn III.

Representing Team Malta will be Mark Spiteri, Dennis Mercieca, Kenneth Arpa, and Steve Cassar, who were chosen based upon set criteria which took into account their performance in various league, tournaments, and national championships. Mark Spiteri will also be the coach for Team Malta during the event.

And where better to get your bowl on than Vegas baby!

The lads will be competing in the singles, doubles, 4 men team, All Events and Masters categories.

With a stellar track record in competitive bowling, Team Malta is a force to be reckoned with at the Senior Champions next month.
