There’s numerous sports complexes around the Maltese islands which are totally worth a visit, and here are our top picks.

1. Marsa Sports Complex

The Marsa Sports Complex is a multi-purpose area where you can totally go crazy. It includes two full-sized football pitches, a rugby pitch, a baseball pitch, softball pitch and an archery range.

An athletics track is also available for visitors along with an outdoor basketball court, netball court and a horse-racing track.

This place seems to be never-ending as apart from all these cool things it also has a cricket pitch, tennis court and a golf course.

2. Malta Union Club

This private club in Sliema has been around since the 19th century. It offers exercise classes, pentanque sessions, skittles court, a snooker and billiard hall.

Apart from all that you can also shake your limbs in their two squash halls, tennis court and the table tennis area.

You can also play a number of games such as bridge, darts and cards. Fancy.

3. Cottonera Sports Complex

The Cottonera Sports Complex is the largest indoor sports facility in Malta. There’s numerous halls which seat large amounts of people, so you’ll have ample of seats to sit on if you need a break.

There’s three volleyball courts, a futsal court and six badminton courts — all in the same hall.

This sports complex is used for numerous activities among which are badminton, weightlifting, netball, karate, volleyball and children’s P.E. classes.

4. Tal-Qroqq Sports Complex

Tal-Qroqq is where the national swimming pool is situated. It has a sizeable 5-a-side ground and two squash courts.

There’s also a spacious gym you could use when hanging out here and two squash courts where you can totally squash.

This complex is mostly known for having a cool pool you can totally use to practice that backstroke you’ve been longing to perfect.

5. St. Martin’s College Sports Complex

A multi-purpose Hall in Swatar which houses two tennis courts, halls and three 5-a-side pitches.

There’s also ample space for classes and meetings. This forms part of St. Martin’s College and the Chiswick House School.

6. University Sports Complex

This complex is found opposite the Tal-Qroqq one. It’s suitable for numerous activities such as basketball, handball, martial arts, gymnastics and volleyball.

It’s also used for table tennis, netball and running around pretending you’re a velociraptor.

7. Kirkop Sports Complex

This is the smaller version of the Cottonera Sports Complex. The Kirkop one includes a gym and enough space for various practices such as volleyball, football, shooting simulation, netball, basketball, badminton and athletics.

This complex also has outdoor facilities which include an athletics track and a football ground.

8. St. Aloysius Sports Complex

The St. Aloysius complex is a multi-purpose hall suitable for volleyball, handball and indoor basketball.

Although it’s a private complex it can still be used by non-students for a fee. These facilities have been recently updated to include the football pitch and a lined running track.
