Beto Who? Maltese Comedian Becomes One Of Last Men To Play At Goodison Park

Maltese comedian and boyhood Everton fan Steve Hili got to live out a childhood dream and become one of the last men to play at Goodison Park.
With Everton moving out of its stadium, which has been its home since 1892, the Merseyside club’s sponsors Stake organised a final game for fans around the world.
Everton issued a call for fans to send a video showing off their footballing skills. Although Steve is (in his own words) s**t at football, he decided to apply anyway, sending Everton a funny video with his wife complaining about his obsession for the club.
“They loved the video so much that they chose me for the game,” he told Lovin Malta.

Steve was given the #9 shirt and placed in a team coached by Everton legend Phil Jagielka, with Leon Osman managing his opponents.
Although he tried his best, he admitted he is unlikely to feature in David Moyes’ plans for next season.
“I was probably one of the worst players on the pitch,” he admitted. “I almost scored at one point but their goalie was too good. It was an awesome experience though, and we were even treated to a hospitality event after the game.”
