Cyclist Gesred Borg Honoured with TGS Malta Fair Play Award for Incredible Sportsmanship
Maltese Masters cyclist Gesred Borg has been named the winner of the TGS Malta Fair Play Award for April to June 2025, recognising his outstanding act of generosity and team spirit during the International Tour ta’ Malta.
During the tough San Martin stage, Gesred was pushing for a strong finish when his teammate Joaquin Rojas suffered a bike breakdown on the steep climb. Without a second thought, Gesred stopped mid-race and gave Joaquin his own bike, sacrificing his own chances so his teammate could keep fighting for a podium spot.

This selfless gesture perfectly captures the true spirit of sportsmanship and teamwork.
“An act of sportsmanship that deserves loads of applause,” said Edward Licari, Director of Together Gaming Solutions, who presented the award at their St. Julian’s office. Representatives from the Malta Fair Play Movement and the Malta Sports Journalists Association were also there to celebrate.
