Football Match Fight In Ħal Għargħur Sends Man To Hospital

When a friendly Ħal Għargħur evening football match turned contentious, a 25-year-old man was grievously injured and taken to Mater Dei Hospital.
The Nepali resident of St Paul’s Bay was playing football on Triq Stiefnu Zerafa pitch, in Ħal Għargħur, when an argument between players on opposing teams lead to a physical clash.
Police were called to the scene at around 8pm, and arrived to find that the 25-year-old had suffered grievous physical injuries, which necessitated that he be brought to hospital for further treatment – after a medical provided first-aid support on the pitch.
At this time it is not clear who was responsible for injuring the man.
Police investigations into the matter are ongoing.
